We’ve got another new paper to share from current and former members of the UW Massive Stars research group! This work was led by Jamie Lomax, a former postdoc here at UW Astronomy and now a faculty member at the United States Naval Academy, and explores coronagraphy of the circumstellar environments around red supergiants! We designed this work as a kind of “pilot study” to test whether RSGs as a whole were good candidates for these observations and originally chose a very “average” RSG as our target: as it turns out, we got a great view of the star’s circumstellar environment and dust! Our paper was just published in the Astronomical Journal; go check it out!
