Very excited to share that I’ll be chairing the newly-formed AAS Working Group on Graduate Admissions! This Working Group was formed by the AAS Board of Trustees as part of the recommendations from the Graduate Admissions Task Force (you can read our full Task Force report on arXiv).

We’ll be serving as a community resource for news and updates about the complicated and evolving landscape of graduate admissions in astronomy. We’ll also be pursuing the other key goals outlined in our Task Force report, including finalizing recommendations on improving the application and review process; publishing some best-practices guides for programs, advisers, and applicants; and researching longer-term ways to improve the state of graduate admissions in astronomy.
