Check out the latest new paper from the UW Massive Stars research group, and the first full-on theory paper I’ve had the pleasure of leading! Myself, Henny Lamers, and Alex de Koter have recently published our work on explaining the long-term S Dor variations of luminous blue variables, proposing a physical triggering mechanism that could explain these stars’ behavior and exploring potential observational tests for our results that exploit the decidedly-weird effects of stellar rotation on these stars’ expected mass loss! The paper has been published in ApJ and you can check it out on arXiv!
