More exciting sabbatical news: in addition to a 2022 Guggenheim Fellowship I’ve been selected as a 2022-2023 Fulbright U.S. Scholar!
I’ll be taking my award to the University of Auckland for four months during my sabbatical in 2023 as part of the Fulbright New Zealand program, and will spend four months working with Dr. Jan Eldridge and her research group on the BPASS binary stellar evolution models. I’m planning to use these models to explore progenitor scenarios for Thorne-Zytkow objects, with the goal of identifying the binaries that could produce these wonderfully weird stars and better understanding their parent populations, observational signatures, and the role TZOs play in our broader picture of massive stellar evolution, binary evolution, and compact object binaries.
