I’m very pleased and excited to have been chosen by AAS as the 2014 recipient of the Annie Jump Cannon Award. It’s certainly a great honor to be in the company of such excellent women who have all contributed so much to the field over the years!
Dr. Cannon herself performed ground-breaking work on the observation and classification of stellar spectra. As a fellow stellar spectroscopist whose research includes continued work on the spectral types and classifications of massive stars pioneered by Dr. Cannon so many years ago, I look forward to the challenge of living up to the name of this award in the coming years!
