Officially a Ph.D. student!
Today I successfully passed my comprehensive exam, in which I presented my Ph.D. thesis topic to the entire IfA and then answered questions from them and from my thesis committee. I got some excellent questions and had a really positive discussion with my committee. I am officially ABD, and my thesis topic, “Exploring the Environments of Long-Duration Gamma-Ray Bursts”, is now approved! Hooray!

That’s great! (Although it’s no surprise, I always knew you would pass it with flying colors). I am not going to wish you luck with your thesis, bacause luck to me implies randomness, and that’s one thing I know your thesis won’t be. I’ll wish you instead the best of chalenges, so that you may flourish by being who you are, theorizing the best of theories, and all the creativity you may need to explain what you observe in ways never though before.
Yours truly,
…
p.s. I also wish that WR 104 doesn’t go supernova anytime soon… but that’s a story for another day…
